Goldhofer STZ-VP lowloader semitrailer series have become a modern classic in the heavy haulage industry. With their proven pendular axle technology, enormous suspension stroke and excellent manoeuvrability, they are also a model of versatility and reliability. At this year’s IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover, the Memmingen company will be presenting this low loader semitrailer series in the form of the STZ-VP 6, a drop deck vehicle with six axle lines (2+4).
Light, low and agile – those are terms we normally use to describe a sports cars. But in this case they are just some of the characteristics of a Goldhofer STZ-VP. And that is not all: These extremely compact low loaders, with an axle spacing of just 1360 mm and short overhangs, are available with between two and eight axles and can be configured with a range of cargo decks, from flat beds to crawler decks and vessel bridges. Plus: thanks to their low deadweight they can carry high payloads. That puts them among the most cost-effective vehicles of this type on the market today.
With fifth-wheel loads of between 17 and 45 tons (depending on national regulations), an axle load of 12 tons (at 80 km/h), two different vehicle widths (2550 mm and 2750 mm) and a flat deck height of between 200 and 350 mm, a Goldhofer STZ-VP is an extremely versatile solution. A steering angle of 60 degrees and a total suspension stroke of 600 mm also make these vehicles highly manoeuvrable on difficult terrain such as construction sites. In addition, the low loader, which is available with between two and five axles for the rear bogie, features a very wide and deep excavator recess.
The STZ-VP’s pendular axle technology has also proved highly successful for long haul journeys on motorways etc., with outstanding performance in terms of suspension, steering and tracking, and thus very low maintenance costs. “A low loader semitrailer from our STZ-VP series puts you in charge however challenging the transport operation may be,” says Renato Ramella, Goldhofer’s Director of Sales Europe and North Africa, and he underlines the claim with reference to the numerous options available for these vehicles. The flat bed, for example, is extendable and has hinged side extensions. A variety of load securing options and user-friendly monitoring systems like TIM (Trailer Information Module) complete the offering for efficient and economical operation. “The STZ-VP is a highly versatile trailer with outstanding characteristics,” says Renato Ramella and he continues: “For us, it is simply the specialist for every job.”
