PA-X: the low pendle axle celebrates its premiere at the IAA
The design of the axle housing has always been a major topic in the automotive industry. Faymonville has now reached a new development stage in the field of pendle axles. Three letters have been on everyone’s lips for a little while now: PA-X.
The shortcut comes from the internal vocabulary and means “the low pendle axle”. The development of this vehicle component pursued several goals. “Of course, it had to be made as low as possible, which has been fully achieved with a loading height of 790 mm. However, the PA-X has a lot more to offer and it enables an unbeatable stroke of 600 mm”, says product manager Rainer Noe, listing the marked corner points. The motto speaks volumes: More than low! Thanks to the profound overall concept, the PA-X outstrips similar products.
790 mm loading height with 600 mm stroke
The PA-X is available for CombiMAX combinations as well as classic MultiMAX low loaders. In the case of the CombiMAX it can be used as a semi-modular system. This means that the rear PA-X loading platform can be combined with front PA-X bogies (2 or 3 axle lines) of the same height. These PA-X front bogies are connected to the gooseneck with a hook connection and can thus be installed or removed quickly. The rear PA-X loading platform is meanwhile also modularly usable with standard CombiMAX elements (2-3 axle lines). Some axle lines of the exhibited 2+1+6 CombiMAX combination are equipped with this new pendle axle at the IAA (outdoor area, M57).
“For the classic MultiMAX low loader, the PA-X pendle axles enable a further optimisation of the payload with a universal loading height of 790 mm. The loading platform is available with single or double extension in both the CombiMAX and MultiMAX PA-X versions. In addition, it can be equipped with hydraulic double or single ramps. in this case with a width of 2,850 or 3,000 mm and a technical axle load of 14,180 kg (at 30 km/h)”, says Rainer Noe, referring to the special features of the PA-X in the low loader segment.
In the development of the PA-X, Faymonville attached importance to practically oriented advantages. With the CombiMAX variants, for instance, the pre-stressing can be adjusted simply by means of a bolt coupling. The steering geometry can also be precisely adjusted thanks to an innovative hydraulic system in the steering.
Low, unbeatable stroke and a real power pack. Payloads of over 110t can be achieved with the PA-X according to §70. The rigid design also enables the transport of compact loads (e.g. transformers) without compromising on deflection – even in the extended state.
MegaMAX from BigMove order
Also in focus at the IAA (Booth FG M57) is a 3-axle MegaMAX low bed semi-trailer, which is part of a large order for BigMove. This group consists of 13 mid-size company locations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Poland.
They share their know-how, which altogether results in a 360° range of services in special transport. Faymonville built already in 2007 a first series of these trailers called ‘Traumschiffe’ – super low 3-axle MegaMAX trailers with air suspension. The consortium ordered now a first pool of 21 telescopic MegaMAX low bed semi-trailers with hydraulic suspension from Faymonville – an impressive order package for a renowned heavy duty transport group.
The MegaMAX low bed semi-trailer is the optimum solution when transporting high goods, industrial parts or machines. The low low-bed beams with a height of just 225 mm have proven to be the decisive trump card here. The MegaMAX also stands for maximum manoeuvrability and operational flexibility thanks to its pendle axles with a 60° steering angle.
Telescopic inloader for long concrete elements
The extendable PrefaMAX inloader for the transport of precast concrete parts is unique in the industry. Faymonville is also exhibiting this product in Hanover. From a basic length of 9,500mm, the extended loading length reaches 13,500 mm in various steps.
The optimised chassis stands out through maximum stability. The one-piece longitudinal beam with optimised stress distribution, the stable axle suspension and the robust, welded bearing housing testify to high-quality production processes.
Fast loading and unloading of the frames is also made possible under cramped space conditions thanks to an installable rear door. The generally easy handling underlines the high degree of usability in practice. The same applies to the built-in RSS (roll stability support), which also lends driving stability in precarious situations.
Faymonville is the only full-range and system supplier for the precast concrete industry – the manufacturer offers an adapted transport solution in its product portfolio for every requirement in the field of precast concrete.
MultiMAX with coverable wheel troughs
Faymonville is also exhibiting a 5-axle MultiMAX lowloader with wheel troughs at the IAA. This vehicle has wheel troughs in the loading platform that allow the flexible placement of wheel loaders, tractors etc.
Insert elements can be placed in these wheels troughs to create an even loading platform if necessary. In this version the loading platform is 9,600 mm long and can be extended by a further 7,000 mm. The very low tare weight of about 12,500kg including all options is another remarkable fact.
Stretched long and built low
A 3-axle TeleMAX flatdeck semi-trailer with double extension and a low loading height rounds off Faymonville’s range of exhibits at the IAA. Such a plateau semi-trailer with three hydraulically steered axles is universally usable in special transport.
The very low loading height of 1,100 mm is an absolute advantage where loads with a larger volume are on the agenda. Thanks to the double extension, the length of the loading platform can be extended from the basic size of 13,600 mm to 29,800 mm.
The transport of construction machinery, precast concrete parts, vessels, steel beams etc. are no problem for the versatile TeleMAX in everyday use. And since the classic 6×2 tractor units are now also available with a fifth wheel height of 950 mm, the full fifth wheel load (18 tonnes) can also be utilised.
